Canon: Chainsaw Man - Chapter 80; After Aki's death and the subsequent inheritance of his will but before Denji's run-in with Makima on the park bench and going back to her place to meet her dogs. (NOTE: Canon Updated to chapter 171; Immediately taken after seeing Nayuta's disembodied head.)

1) Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them.
Here is a teenage boy who grew up knowing only hardship and sorrow at every turn from a tender age after inheriting the debt of his father having passed away. He spent every minute of his waking existence after that working to pay off the loans of his deadbeat forebear by whatever means necessary. In an act of desperation and fear for his own life, Denji made a contract with the chainsaw devil, Pochita, who was bleeding out upon his finding at his father's gravesite. In exchange for his blood the little devil would aid him as they struggled to survive in this cruel world together. After years of serving the Yakuza, risking life and limb killing devils to pay off his debt and keep himself afloat he is apprehended by the Zombie devil, who's minions stab and chop him up into tiny pieces for their hatred towards the boy killing its fellow devils. This is when Pochita offers up its heart to unite itself as one with Denji; In return the devil insists he live out his dreams as he offers up his very essence to infuse himself as one to mend the damaged body of the boy.
After disposing of the Zombie devil and all its zombified minions, Denji is greeted by his newfound superior and savior, Ms. Makima of Public Safety who spares his life and in doing so becomes her loyal dog. Giving him purpose in life as he works under her strict rule of 'Tokyo Special Division 4' he finally finds himself leading a somewhat "normal" life if you can call hunting down devils as a hybrid Chainsaw man with the chance of dying every passing day normalcy. He's faced his fair share of ups and downs, from a first kiss ending with barf in his mouth to killing one of the few people he could truly call a friend none too recently before arriving here in Escordvi. Through it all Denji strived to survive as he clung to this newfound life as he did not wish to lose it all after struggling for the majority of his miserable existence, promising the friend who bestowed upon its heart to live on and he would be damned if he did not fulfill every single one of his dreams no matter how deprived or insane they might possibly be.
If one would ever so happen to run into Denji upon the street somewhere for the first time they could be met with a number of different ways depending on the variable mood he's in or just how hungry he might be...Above anything else he's an idiot through and through who can come off a bit standoffish to some but in truth is mostly harmless to anyone who does not simply piss him off! If you are a really hot girl who acts nice to him or offer him free food he will likely take an immediate liking to the person as food and the prospect of kissing cuties are the way to his heart. Most of the time he is friendly unless provoked by violence or threatened to death by imminent danger thrown his way. Acting like any other teenager who enjoys the company of his peers, Denji will explore and socialize amongst the masses with wild enthusiasm as he fully embraces the pirate lifestyle.
2) What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?
Survival; It was the name of the game for Denji from day one in his miserable existence from a tender age, each day a struggle for continuity after the death of his deadbeat father, incurring his massive debt to the Yakuza. Every dollar to his name was carefully accounted for budgeting down to the last yen how many days he was able to eat, keep a roof over his head on top of his obligations towards the mob. However; After Denji and Pochita make the contract to become one entity with the prospect of living out his dreams to the fullest his priorities begin to shift especially so after his joining of Public Safety.
At first the teenager wished for nothing more than to lead a 'normal' life being able to eat good food, enjoy a hot bath everyday and with those basic needs met after joining Public Safety as a Devil Hunter his dreams and ideals become a bit more risqué. Sexual desires fueled his motivations as he wished for nothing more than to score with Makima. In-between that Denji becomes distracted by other means of sexual gratification, wishing to touch some boobs and going to great lengths to do so after promising to save Power's cat Nyako in exchange for copping a feel, three in fact! Many people scoff at his dreams calling them idiotic but Denji is a simple boy with simple desires who until a few months ago was stuffing cigarettes in his mouth for a hundred yen to keep himself alive for a couple more days. His main goal in life at the moment is getting laid by Makima after achieving his first kiss none too long ago, albeit how disgusting that ended up being considering Himeno threw up in his mouth. Are his dreams less than honorable? Most definitely. Will he ever wise up and have more ethical intentions? Highly unlikely.
3) What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?
Unfortunately Denji is subject to being rather impolite even blatantly rude to those he finds subjectively annoying or if he's just feeling particularly moody. Given his lack of proper socialization due to his horrid upbringing the teenager can often be found berating others when he does not get his own way. On top of this it is clear that Denji has codependency issues after he gets a taste of emotional recognition from Makima, instantly falling head over heels for her despite all the red flags. He could care less what most people think about him save for Makima or other women, often treating them with far more respect than his male counterparts.
His regrets in life are few and far between having little regard for others trials and tribulations unless they somehow benefit him. Denji was used to looking out solely for himself so long that he forgot about the well beings of others often putting his own needs first and foremost. That being said however the boy's desire to have a girlfriend and somehow get laid caused multiple controversies for him. First came Power when she enlisted his aid in retrieving Nyako only to be double crossed and used as bat devil food then came Reze who only wanted to manipulate him from the start. Falling for Reze was especially painful as he truly had loved her, even going so far as to voicing his desires to start a new life together away from all the bullshit. Even after her disappearance Denji still clings to hope that things between them could somehow work and waited at the cafe she worked during her deceit for a whole day until finally coming to terms that she was never going to come back and had to move on.
4) He is a bit unhinged at times. That is all.

Having been taught the arts of hand-to-hand combat from his 'master' Kishibe, he can be found easily defending himself from deathly blows that would quickly dispatch of an ordinary human by sheer force alone. Despite his lack of real education, Denji is not a complete and utter idiot, in fact he shows quite a bit of promise when it comes to exploiting the weaknesses of his enemies. After his vigorous training regime recieved by Kishibe the foolhardy teenager uses deception to his advantage, evident against his fight with the Katana Man by lying to him, making him think he is only capable of manifesting chainsaws from his head and arms.
Hybrid Form: Initiating Denji's transformation into the Chainsaw Devil is as simple as pulling the cord which protrudes out from the middle of his chest. However; There is a catch to his abilities requiring sustainable amounts of blood, chainsaws on his person would rescind back into his body otherwise. His physical prowess, stamina and durability are increased to inhuman levels being able to take immense damage to his person. From multiple explosions dealt out by the Bomb Devil to having both his arms chopped off by the Katana Man the amount of disfigurement received over the course of his time with Public Safety is unhinged. Blood is the key to his survival; Resorting to whatever means to survive as he consumes the blood of his enemies to sustain himself.

ARMADA SELECTION
Corsairs - Denji has seen and done a lot of twisted shit in his short lifetime already, far from your average teenager as he's sold himself piece by piece on the black market just to survive in his early childhood. Needless to say he would not be your ideal Paladin upholding justice and virtues that he would find laughable after the things he's done to stay afloat. The Corsairs will certainly make a fine fit for the lad as he lives out his life on the open seas plundering booty on epic quests and happily taking on bounties much like back home slaying devils to pay the bills.
